Despite, the author's view that the judgement in question will have no effect on his case, he expresses the view that it could prove important in principle in affirming that all rights enshrined in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights are directly applicable and justiciable under domestic law, which should be interpreted as including those rights in respect of which Sri Lanka has been found in breach in the author's case.
