Mr. Mabhongo (South Africa): We thank you, Mr. President, for convening this meeting to afford the African Union the opportunity to introduce to the General Assembly our draft resolution on Security Council reform (A/59/L.67).

Mr. Mabhongo (South Africa): My delegation associates itself with the statement made by the representative of Jamaica on behalf of the Group of 77 and China.

Mr. Mabhongo (South Africa): For once, there have been a number of positive changes in the Middle East, which may present yet another opportunity to revitalize the peace process.

Mr. Mabhongo (South Africa): My delegation welcomes the report of the Secretary-General on the agenda item entitled " Cooperation between the United Nations and regional and other organizations " , contained in document A/59/303.

70. Mr. Mabhongo (South Africa) said that he would like to have further details of the technical cooperation established by UNEP to help countries to obtain an integrated water resource management plan.

9. Mr. Mabhongo (South Africa) said that the implementation of decisions taken by the international community in the area of the conservation and management of the world's natural resources fell short of expectations.

10. Mr. Mabhongo (South Africa) said that his delegation continued to support the Middle East peace process and all efforts aimed at bringing lasting peace to that important part of the world.
10 - السيد مابهونغو (جنوب أفريقيا): قال إن وفد بلده مستمرّ في دعم عملية السلام في الشرق الأوسط وجميع الجهود الرامية إلى جلب السلام الدائم إلى هذا الجزء الهام من العالم.

Mr. Mabhongo (South Africa) said that Mr. LI Yong had extensive experience and would give more impetus to the work of UNIDO, which would enhance its role in capacity-building, research and development, green industry and energy for productive activities.
78- السيد مابهونغو (جنوب أفريقيا): قال إنَّ السيد لي يون يتمتع بخبرة واسعة وسوف يعطي مزيدا من الزخم لعمل اليونيدو، وهذا من شأنه أن يعزز دورها في بناء القدرات، وفي البحث والتطوير، والصناعة الخضراء، وتسخير الطاقة للأنشطة الإنتاجية.

75. Mr. Mabhongo (South Africa), speaking on behalf of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), said that the need to integrate social development, environmental protection and economic development had become increasingly pressing, and he underscored the importance of international cooperation to assist developing countries in meeting their sustainable development objectives.
75 - السيد مابهونغو (جنوب أفريقيا): تحدث نيابة عن الجماعة الإنمائية للجنوب الأفريقي، قائلاً إن الحاجة إلي التكامل بين التنمية الإجتماعية وحماية البيئة والتنمية الاقتصادية، قد أصبحت ملحة بصورة متزايدة، وأبرز أهمية التعاون الدولي في مساعدة البلدان النامية علي تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة.

75. Mr. Mabhongo (South Africa) said that the results of the 2005 World Summit had been mixed: the Member States had recognized the link between the security and development agendas and had proposed action in that regard, but had failed to take bold action to fulfil the Millennium Development Goals.
75 - السيد مابهونغو (جنوب أفريقيا): قال إن نتائج القمة العالمية لسنة 2005 كانت متباينة. فقد اعترفت الدول الأعضاء بالارتباط بين برامج الأمن والتنمية واقترحت تدابير في ذلك الصدد، ولكنها قصرت عن اتخاذ تدابير جريئة للوفاء بالأهداف الإنمائية للألفية.
