In article 63 (2), it requires that the coastal State and States that are engaged in fishing on the high seas for the same stocks, or stocks of associated species, that " occur both within the exclusive economic zone and in an area beyond and adjacent to that zone " , shall seek to agree upon the conservation measures necessary for the conservation of these stocks in the adjacent area.
تقضي المادة ٦٣ )٢(، بأن تسعى الدولة الساحلية والدول التي تمارس في أعالي البحار صيد نفس اﻷرصدة أو أرصدة من أنواع مترابطة " في كلا المنطقة الاقتصادية الخالصة وقطاع واقع وراءها وملاصق لها " الى الاتفاق على التدابير اللازمة لحفظ هذه اﻷرصدة في القطاع الملاصق.

Article 63 (2) places an obligation on the coastal State and States that are engaged in fishing on the high seas for stocks that " occur both within the exclusive economic zone and in an area beyond and adjacent to the zone " to seek to agree on conservation measures necessary for the conservation of these stocks in the adjacent area.

2. Where the same stock or stocks of associated species occur both within the exclusive economic zone and in an area beyond and adjacent to the zone, the coastal State and the States fishing for such stocks in the adjacent area shall seek, either directly or through appropriate subregional or regional organizations, to agree upon the measures necessary for the conservation of these stocks in the adjacent area.
٢ - عند وجود نفس الرصيد أو أرصدة من أنواع مترابطة في كلا المنطقة الاقتصادية الخالصة وقطاع واقع وراءها وملاصق لها، تسعى الدولة الساحلية والدول التي تقوم بصيد هذه اﻷرصدة في القطاع الملاصق، إما مباشرة أو عن طريق المنظمات دون الاقليمية المناسبة، الى الاتفاق على التدابير اللازمة لحفظ هذه اﻷرصدة في القطاع الملاصق.

Obligation of the flag State which fishes in the adjacent area for stocks occurring both within the exclusive economic zone and in an area beyond and adjacent to it (straddling fish stocks) to seek, either directly or through appropriate subregional or regional organizations, to agree with the coastal State upon the measures necessary for the conservation of these stocks in the adjacent area.
تلتزم دولة العلم التي تقوم بالصيد في القطاع الملاصق لأرصدة موجودة داخل المنطقة الاقتصادية الخالصة وفي قطاع واقع وراءها وملاصق لها (أرصدة سمكية متداخلة) بالسعي، إما مباشرة أو عن طريق المنظمات الإقليمية أو دون الإقليمية المناسبة، إلى الاتفاق مع الدولة الساحلية على التدابير اللازمة لحفظ هذه الأرصدة في القطاع الملاصق.
