In that context, a number of issues were highlighted, including implementation of the Bali Strategic Plan; enhancing synergies between chemicals-related and wastesrelated multilateral environmental conventions; financing, including the replenishment of the Global Environment Facility; and enhancing coordination among relevant United Nations bodies and agencies.

International cooperative programmes on dryland biodiversity and climate change mitigation have evolved rapidly in recent years, and the TPN host institutes, focal institutes and other stakeholders need to stay up to date on such developments so they can benefit from supporting programmes or schemes that could assist in promoting synergistic implementation of the multilateral environmental conventions.
