In its resolution 63/111, the General Assembly invited States to consider becoming parties to the Wreck Removal Convention and requested States to take appropriate measures with regard to ships flying their flag or of their registry to address hazards that might be caused by wrecks and drifting or sunken cargo to navigation or the marine environment (paras. 86 and 87).
