It is our firm belief that no lasting peace in the Middle East is possible without the achievement of a peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine.
ونعتقد اعتقادا راسخا بأن تحقيق السلام الدائم في الشرق اﻷوسط لن يكون ممكنا إلا بالتوصل إلى تسوية سلمية لقضية فلسطين.

The Government further affirms that those measures and settlement activities represent fundamental obstacles to the conclusion of a peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine and that successive Israeli Governments have had no political will to conclude a lasting and comprehensive peace in the region based on United Nations resolutions.

6. The importance of a peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine continued to be emphasized during diplomatic developments and events during the reporting period.

The Syrian Arab Republic also wishes to stress that the ongoing presence of these settlements constitutes a fundamental obstacle to the reaching of a peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine and indicates that the successive Israeli Administrations have lacked the necessary political will to reach a just and comprehensive peace in the region based on decisions of international legitimacy.

51. The United Nations International Meeting in Support of a peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine and the Establishment of Peace in the Middle East was held in Athens on 23 and 24 May 2000.
51 - عُقد اجتماع الأمم المتحدة الدولي لدعم التسوية السلمية لقضية فلسطين وإقرار السلام في الشرق الأوسط في أثينا يومي 23 و24 أيار/مايو 2000.

UNIC Athens assisted the Division for Palestinian Rights in organizing the United Nations International Meeting in Support of a peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine and the Establishment of Peace in the Middle East in May 2000.
