2. The initial election shall be held as soon as possible but in any case within 18 months after the date of entry into force of this Convention.

1. Each Party with primary mercury mining within its territory [at the date of entry into force of this Convention for it] shall:

[(c) Eliminate such mining [within [three] years of] [by] the date of entry into force of this Convention for it].

Each Party shall develop, within 4 years of entry into force of this Convention for the concerned Party an Action Plan of its obligations under this Convention.

Under its terms, the initial election of the Commission should have been held " within 18 months after the date of entry into force of this Convention " , that is, by 16 May 1996.

73. According to article 2, paragraph 2, of Annex II to the Convention, the initial election for the members of the Commission should have taken place " within 18 months after the date of entry into force of this Convention " , that is, by 16 May 1996.

5. Each Party shall discourage the manufacture of mercury-added products for uses not covered by any known use of mercury-added products prior to the date of entry into force of this Convention for the Party.
5 - على كل طرف أن يثني عن تصنيع المنتجات المضاف إليها الزئبق للاستخدامات غير المشمولة بأي استعمال معروف للمنتجات المضاف إليها الزئبق قبل تاريخ دخول هذه الاتفاقية حيّز النفاذ بالنسبة للطرف.
