CEDAW was also concerned that perpetrators are often unpunished and requested, inter alia, that consideration be given to enacting a law aimed at combating and eradicating violence against women, ensuring that women have access to protection and effective redress, and ensuring that perpetrators of such acts are effectively prosecuted and punished.
