Article 12 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka states that the State shall recognize and protect the family as the basic unit of society.

40. Article 11 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka stipulates it a right that no one shall be subject to torture, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
٠٤- وتنص المادة ١١ من دستور سري لانكا على حق الفرد في عدم تعرضه للتعذيب أو للمعاملة أو العقوبة اللاانسانية أو الحاطة بالكرامة.

55. Article 13 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka provides that no person shall be arrested except according to the procedure established by law; and his further detention will be determined by a judge.
٥٥- وتنص المادة ١٣ من دستور سري لانكا على عدم اعتقال أي شخص إلا وفقاً لﻹجراء المقرر قانوناً؛ وان يقرر احد القضاة زيادة مدة احتجازه.

75. Article 14 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka provides, inter alia, for the freedom of movement and choosing one's residence within Sri Lanka and the freedom to return to Sri Lanka.
٥٧- وتنص المادة ١٤ من دستور سري لانكا ، من جملة أمور، على حرية الفرد في التنقل وفي اختيار مكان اقامته داخل سري لانكا وحرية العودة الى سري لانكا.

103. Article 28 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka states that it is the duty of every person to defend the Constitution and the law and to further the national interest and to foster national unity.
٣٠١- وتنص المادة ٨٢ من دستور سري لانكا على أن من واجب كل شخص الدفاع عن الدستور والقانون ودعم المصلحة الوطنية وتعزيز الوحدة الوطنية.

106. This freedom is ensured under article 14 (1) (b) of the Constitution of Sri Lanka, which states that every person is entitled to the freedom of peaceful assembly.
٦٠١- إن هذه الحرية تكفلها المادة ٤١ )١( )ب( من دستور سري لانكا التي تنص على حق كل شخص في حرية التجمع السلمي.

120. Article 12 (1) of the Constitution of Sri Lanka guarantees equality before the law and prohibits discrimination on any ground.
٠٢١- وتكفل المادة ٢١ )١( من دستور سري لانكا المساواة أمام القانون وتحظر التمييز على أي أساس.

The need to strictly adhere to the law on arrest or detention has been emphasized by the Supreme Court and any breach of such provisions could amount to an infringement of the Fundamental Right enshrined in Article 13 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka.
وقد شدَّدت المحكمة العليا على ضرورة التقيد الصارم بالقانون المتعلق بالقبض على الأشخاص أو احتجازهم وأن أي انتهاك لأحكام هذا القانون قد يرقى إلى انتهاك للحقوق الأساسية المكرسة في المادة 13 من دستور سري لانكا.

Under the terms of article 118 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka, " The Supreme Court of the Republic of Sri Lanka shall be the highest and final Superior Court of record in the Republic " .
ووفقا للمادة ١١٨ من دستور سري لانكا فإن " المحكمة العليا في سري لانكا هي أعلى وآخر محكمة للفصل في الدعاوى في الجمهورية " .

5. Further provision has been made under article 12 (4) of the Constitution of Sri Lanka which enables special provisions to be made by law for subordinate legislation or executive action for the advancement of women, children or disabled persons.
٥- كما تنص المادة ١٢)٤( من دستور سري لانكا على حكم خاص بموجب القانون يتعلق بالعمل التشريعي أو التنفيذي من أجل النهوض بالمرأة أو الطفل أو المعوقين.

8. The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka is vested with the sole and exclusive jurisdiction to hear and determine any question relating to the infringement or the imminent infringement by executive or administrative action of any fundamental rights or language right declared and recognized in Chapter III or Chapter IV of the Constitution of Sri Lanka.
٨- ان المحكمة العليا لسري لانكا لها الاختصاص الوحيد والحصري لبحث وتقرير أي مسألة تتصل بنقض أو احتمال نقض اجراء تنفيذي أو اداري ﻷي حق اساسي أو حق لغوي معلن ومعترف به في الفصل الثالث أو الفصل الرابع من دستور سري لانكا.

92. Article 13 (6) of the Constitution of Sri Lanka specifically provides against retroactive legislation except where such legislation is to give effect to an act which was criminal according to the general principles of law recognized by the community of nations.
٢٩- وتنص المادة ١٣)٦( من دستور سري لانكا تحديدا على عدم رجعية أثر التشريع الا اذا كان هذا التشريع يعمل على إنفاذ فعل يشكل جريمة وفقا لمبادئ القانون العامة التي يعترف بها مجتمع اﻷمم.
