In this connection, we believe that it would be appropriate for the Security Council to conduct a thorough discussion of the results of the multinational protection force's activity in the framework of the international community's efforts to stabilize the country.

The purpose of the multinational protection force as set out in resolution 1101 (1997) is therefore a strictly humanitarian one.

10. The Steering Committee took note of the readiness of the contributing countries to maintain, for a limited time, their military contingents in Albania as part of the multinational protection force and in the framework of the mandate given by the Security Council.
١٠ - وأحاطت اللجنة التوجيهية علما باستعداد البلدان المساهمة بقوات إبقاء وحداتها العسكرية في ألبانيا، لفترة زمنية محددة، كجزء من قوة الحماية المتعددة الجنسيات وفي إطار الولاية الممنوحة من مجلس اﻷمن.
