The adoption of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Alternative Development by the General Assembly, in its resolution 68/196, on the recommendation of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, was a positive step forward in providing Member States with a framework under which to implement, monitor and assess activities relating to alternative development.
٦٢- يمثل اعتماد الجمعية العامة، في قرارها ٦٨/١٩٦، بناءً على توصية لجنة المخدِّرات، مبادئَ الأمم المتحدة الإرشادية بشأن التنمية البديلة خطوةً إيجابية على طريق تزويد الدول الأعضاء بإطار يكفل لها تنفيذَ الأنشطة المتعلقة بالتنمية البديلة ورصدَ تلك الأنشطة وتقييمَها.
