16. In its resolution 64/84, " Assistance in mine action " , the General Assembly identified " the need for a comprehensive and independent evaluation of the scope, organization, effectiveness and approach of the work of the United Nations in mine action " .
16 - وحددت الجمعية العامة في قرارها 64/84، " تقديم المساعدة في الإجراءات المتعلقة بالألغام``، ' ' ضرورة إجراء تقييم شامل ومستقل لنطاق عمل الأمم المتحدة في مجال الإجراءات المتعلقة بالألغام وتنظيمه وفعاليته والنهج المتبع فيه``.

1. Mr. Nwosa (Nigeria) said that, notwithstanding the role of the United Nations in mine action, and a visit to Nigeria in March 2011 by the Implementation Support Unit of the Office for Disarmament Affairs, all mine clearance in the country had been undertaken by the Government alone.
