27. In expanding the work of UNODC in the area of criminal justice reform and rule of law, the focus is three-fold:

The Commission may also wish to encourage Member States and other donors to provide extrabudgetary resources to sustain technical assistance activities of UNODC in the area of strengthening capacity for the collection and analysis of crime and criminal justice data at the national and regional levels.

(v) To strengthen their support for the work of UNODC in the area of crime prevention and criminal justice, which is a cornerstone in the advancement of the rule of law and human rights, and a prerequisite for the effective and sustainable fight against organized crime, corruption and terrorism;

(m) Request Member States to strengthen their support for the work of UNODC in the area of crime prevention and criminal justice;

69. One speaker expressed the view that the capacity of UNODC in the area of alternative development needed to be strengthened in order to enhance the capacity of UNODC to provide technical assistance to Member States and its field offices in the areas of policy development and project design, execution, evaluation and monitoring.
69- وأعرب أحد المتحدّثين عن رأي مفاده أن من الضروري تعزيز قدرة المكتب في مجال التنمية البديلة بغية زيادة قدراته على تقديم المساعدة التقنية للدول الأعضاء ومكاتبه الميدانية في مجالات وضع السياسات وتصميم المشاريع وتنفيذها وتقييمها ورصدها.

The work of UNODC in the area of counter-terrorism has contributed to the increase in the number of ratifications of the international legal instruments to counter terrorism and the elaboration of new or revised counter-terrorism legislation. An estimated 400 ratifications were made, and an estimated 47 new or revised pieces of counter-terrorism legislation were drafted by countries assisted.
34- وأسهم عمل المكتب في مجال مكافحة الإرهاب في زيادة عدد التصديقات على الصكوك القانونية الدولية لمكافحة الإرهاب ووضع تشريعات جديدة أو منقّحة لمكافحة الإرهاب حيث بلغ عدد عمليات التصديق ما يقدر بـ400 وصيغ ما يقدر بـ47 تشريعا جديدا أو منقّحا لدى البلدان التي يساعدها المكتب.

The work of UNODC in the area of child justice emphasizes the establishment of partnerships with other United Nations agencies, regional organizations, international non-governmental organizations and the institutes of the United Nations crime prevention and criminal justice programme network. Many tools and publications were jointly published.

(t) Encourage Member States to continue supporting the work of UNODC in the area of crime prevention and criminal justice, as a cornerstone in the advancement of the rule of law and human rights and a prerequisite for fighting organized crime, corruption and terrorism;

(d) Provide further guidance and sustained support to strengthen the work of UNODC in the area of counter-terrorism, in particular, sustained and custom-tailored capacity-building technical assistance for domestic criminal justice practitioners involved in the investigation, prosecution and adjudication of terrorism cases;

9. Providing further guidance and support to strengthen the work of UNODC in the area of counter-terrorism, including by contributing to the work of the Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force and the development of new initiatives, and inviting recipient and donor countries, as well as relevant subregional, regional and international organizations to work closely with UNODC in this area;
9- تقديم مزيد من الإرشادات والدعم بغية تعزيز نشاط المكتب في مجال مكافحة الإرهاب، بسبل من بينها المساهمة في جهود فرقة العمل المعنية بالتنفيذ في مجال مكافحة الإرهاب ووضع مبادرات جديدة، ودعوة البلدان المستفيدة والمانحة، فضلا عن المنظمات ذات الصلة دون الإقليمية والإقليمية والدولية، إلى التعاون الوثيق مع المكتب في هذا المجال؛

(r) Inviting Member States to increase the level of extrabudgetary and regular budget resources for implementing the technical assistance activities of UNODC in the area of terrorism prevention;

Its national counter-terrorism capacity-building programme had supported the work of UNODC in the area of counterfeiting in Asia and the efforts of the Terrorism Prevention Branch to strengthen the legal regime against terrorism in the Americas.
