63. The summary of the panel discussions on productive employment and sustainable livelihoods is set out below.

The agreed conclusions on productive employment and sustainable livelihoods, adopted by the Commission at its thirty-fifth session, in its resolution 35/2, suggest some ways forward.

My delegation wishes to highlight specifically the agreed conclusions on productive employment and sustainable livelihoods, adopted by the Commission for Social Development at its thirty-sixth session and considered by the Economic and Social Council at its substantive session in July 1997.

39. The Commission subsequently adopted resolution 35/2,4 which contains a set of agreed conclusions on productive employment and sustainable livelihoods, and decided to transmit them to the high-level segment of the 1997 substantive session of the Economic and Social Council.

The delegation of Kazakhstan supports the conclusions of the Commission for Social Development as set forth in its resolution 34/2, which contains a set of agreed conclusions on productive employment and sustainable livelihoods, which are a part of the follow-up to the Social Summit.

37. In 2006 the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the Secretariat organized a Forum on productive employment and Decent Work to explore policy directions towards optimizing the impact of full and productive employment on sustainable development.

This was particularly the case in 1996, when it adopted its resolution S-1996/1 on " Strategies and actions for the eradication of poverty " ,3 and in 1997, with its extensive agreed conclusions on productive employment and sustainable livelihoods.4 In the latter, one can note, for instance, the following:

The Commission for Social Development, at its thirty-fifth session, adopted resolution 35/2 on productive employment and sustainable livelihoods, which contained a set of agreed conclusions on productive and sustainable livelihoods. The Commission decided to transmit the agreed conclusions to the Economic and Social Council as a contribution to the high-level segment of its substantive session of 1997.

At the 12th meeting, on 6 March, on the proposal of the Chairman, the Commission decided to include in its report the Chairman's summary of the dialogue with the chairpersons of the inter-agency task forces on follow-up to international conferences and of the panel discussions on productive employment and sustainable livelihoods (see chap. I, sect. D, Commission decision 35/102).
