I have the pleasure to transmit herewith the text of the Madrid Declaration and Plan of Action on strengthening the legal regime against terrorism in West and Central Africa.

The resolution has led to an expansion of the technical assistance activities of UNODC in legal and related capacity-building matters, in particular within the framework of its global project on strengthening the legal regime against terrorism.

The Round Table adopted the Madrid Declaration and Plan of Action on strengthening the legal regime against terrorism in West and Central Africa, which specifies concrete measures and steps to be taken by all participating countries at the national level and appropriate joint activities at the subregional level.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, pursuant to paragraph 18 of General Assembly resolution 63/129, noted that its Terrorism Prevention Branch had continued to enhance its technical assistance delivery on legal and related capacitybuilding matters within the framework of its global project on strengthening the legal regime against terrorism.
124 - ولاحظ مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة، عملاً بالفقرة 18 من قرار الجمعية العامة 63/129، أن فرع منع الإرهاب ما برح يعزز تقديم المساعدة التقنية بشأن المسائل القانونية وما يتصل بها من بناء القدرات وذلك ضمن إطار مشروعه العالمي المتعلق بتعزيز النظام القانوني لمكافحة الإرهاب.

102. The full-fledged project on strengthening the legal regime against terrorism encompasses, inter alia, providing direct legislative assistance to assist countries in preparing the bills necessary for becoming party to the international instruments related to the prevention and suppression of international terrorism.

In fulfilment of paragraph 12 of General Assembly resolution 62/175, UNODC has continued to enhance its delivery to Member States of technical assistance on legal and related capacity-building matters, within the framework of its global project on strengthening the legal regime against terrorism.
