I. The impact of largescale or major development projects on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous communities

11. The Special Rapporteur on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous peoples held a dialogue with the Committee in the morning of 14 August 2009.
11- وأجرى المقرر الخاص المعني بحالة حقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية للشعوب الأصلية حواراً مع اللجنة صباح يوم 14 آب/أغسطس 2009.

The Forum recommends that the Special Rapporteur on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous people pay special attention in his annual reports to the situation of these peoples.
ويوصي المنتدى المقرر الخاص المعني بحقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية للشعوب الأصلية بإيلاء عناية خاصة في تقاريره السنوية لحالة هذه الشعوب.

12. UNICEF is working jointly with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) towards the elaboration of a study with the Special Rapporteur on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of Indigenous People in Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru.

When the Forum receives an appeal for a specific case of a gross human rights violation, the Forum's Bureau could analyse the situation, in consultation with the Special Rapporteur on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous people, and, if it deems it appropriate, consider extending its good offices vis-à-vis a government appealing for correction of the situation.

Further, in its resolution 55/93, the General Assembly decided to proclaim 18 December International Migrants Day, and invited Member States, as well as intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations, to observe International Migrants Day, through, inter alia, the dissemination of information on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of migrants, the sharing of experience and the design of actions to ensure their protection.
3- كذلك، قررت الجمعية العامة، بموجب قرارها 55/93، إعلان 18 كانون الأول/ديسمبر يوماً دولياً للمهاجرين، ودعت الدول الأعضاء، وكذلك المنظمات الحكومية الدولية والمنظمات غير الحكومية، إلى الاحتفال باليوم الدولي للمهاجرين بعدة طرق من بينها نشر المعلومات عن حقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية لجميع المهاجرين وتبادل الخبرات ووضع الإجراءات التي تكفل حماية تلك الحقوق.

(a) The impact of development projects on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous communities;

The Working Group believes that immediate measures and policy responses are required to mitigate the negative impact of any economic and/or financial crisis on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of migrant workers.
ويعتقد الفريق العامل أن اتخاذ تدابير وسياسات فورية مطلوب لتخفيف الأثر السلبي لأية أزمة اقتصادية و/أو مالية على حقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية للعمال المهاجرين.

5. This report will concentrate thematically on a major issue that is of particular concern to indigenous peoples, namely, the impact of largescale or major development projects on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous communities.
5- وسيركز هذا التقرير من حيث المواضيع التي يطرقها على قضية رئيسية تتسم بأهمية خاصة لدى الشعوب الأصلية، ألا وهي ما يترتب على المشاريع الإنمائية الكبيرة الحجم أو الرئيسية من آثار على حقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية للسكان الأصليين ومجتمعاتهم المحلية.

Any future arrangements should enhance and not diminish the existing functions provided by the Working Group on Indigenous Populations, the Special Rapporteur on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous peoples and the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
وينبغي لأية ترتيبات مقبلة أن تعزز لا أن تقلّص من المهام الحالية التي ينهض بها الفريق العامل المعني بالسكان الأصليين، والمقرر الخاص المعني بحالة حقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية للشعوب الأصلية، والمحفل الدائم المعني بقضايا الشعوب الأصلية.

49. The Forum takes note of the recommendations of the Special Rapporteur on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous peoples following his latest visits to Chile, Colombia and Mexico.
49 - ويحيط المنتدى علما بتوصيات المقررة الخاصة المعنية بحقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية للشعوب الأصلية التي قدمها عقب زيارتها الأخيرة لشيلي وكولومبيا والمكسيك.

Similarly, the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues met with the Special Rapporteurs of the Commission on Human Rights on the human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous peoples and on violence against women, its causes and consequences and with the Chairperson of the Commission on the Status of Women.
وكذلك اجتمع المنتدى الدائم المعني بقضايا الشعوب الأصلية بالمقررين الخاصين للجنة حقوق الإنسان المعنيين بحالة حقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية للشعوب الأصلية وبالعنف ضد المرأة وأسبابه ونتائجه، وبرئيسة لجنة وضع المرأة.
