On 29 March 1994, Cameroon instituted proceedings against Nigeria in a dispute concerning the question of sovereignty over the peninsula of Bakassi.

" 3. On instructions from General Abacha, following a security council meeting over which he presided, military aircraft on a reconnaissance mission violated, on the above-mentioned date, our airspace above the peninsula of Bakassi.
" ٣ - وبناء على تعليمات من الجنرال أباشا، وبعد عقد جلسة لمجلس أمن برئاسته، انتهكت طائرات عسكرية أوفدت في مهمة استطلاعية في التاريخ المذكور، مجالنا الجوي فوق شبه جزيرة باكاسي.

" (a) that sovereignty over the peninsula of Bakassi is Cameroonian, by virtue of international law, and that that peninsula is an integral part of the territory of Cameroon;
" )أ( أن السيادة على شبه جزيرة باكاسي هي للكاميرون، بمقتضى القانون الدولي، وأن شبه الجزيرة تلك جزء لا يتجزأ من إقليم الكاميرون؛

" (a) that sovereignty over the peninsula of Bakassi is Cameroonian, by virtue of international law, and that that peninsula is an integral part of the territory of Cameroon;
" )أ( ان السيادة على شبه جزيرة باكاسي تعود للكاميرون، بمقتضى القانون الدولي، وأن شبه الجزيرة تلك جزء لا يتجزأ من إقليم الكاميرون؛

(e) that in view of these breaches of legal obligation, mentioned above, the Federal Republic of Nigeria has the express duty of putting an end to its military presence in Cameroonian territory, and effecting an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of its troops from the Cameroonian peninsula of Bakassi;
)ﻫ( وأن على جمهورية نيجيريا الاتحادية، بالنظر إلى هذه الانتهاكات للالتزام القانوني، السالفة الذكر، واجب بين بأن تنهي تواجدها العسكري في اﻹقليم الكاميروني، وأن تقوم، فورا ودون قيد أو شرط، بسحب لقواتها من شبه جزيرة باكاسي الكاميرونية؛
