At its 3rd meeting, on 12 April 2002, the Main Committee adopted its report and recommended that the Assembly adopt a draft resolution to which were annexed the political Declaration and International Plan of Action on Ageing, 2002.

The political Declaration and International Plan of Action on Ageing adopted by the Second World Assembly on Ageing outlined strategies and programmes to deal with the most significant demographic phenomenon of the past century, namely increased longevity.
وقد حدد الإعلان السياسي وخطة العمل الدولية للشيخوخة اللذان اعتمدتهما الجمعية العالمية الثانية للشيخوخة الاستراتيجيات والبرامج الرامية إلى معالجة أهم ظاهرة ديمغرافية في القرن الماضي، وهي الزيادة في طول العمر.

7. It is proposed that items 1 to 8 and 10 of the provisional agenda be considered in plenary meetings, and that item 9 (political Declaration and International Plan of Action on Ageing, 2002) be allocated to the Main Committee.

2. The Rapporteur of the Main Committee, Ms. Ivana Grollová (Czech Republic) orally introduced further amendments to the texts of the political Declaration and International Plan of Action, 2002, as recommended and agreed upon by the Main Committee.
2 - وقدَّمت مقررة اللجنة الثانية، السيدة إيفانا غرولوفا (الجمهورية التشيكية) تعديلات أخرى شفوية لنصيّ الإعلان السياسي وخطة العمل الدولية 2002، حسب ما أوصت بها وأقرتها اللجنة الرئيسية.

1. At its 1st plenary meeting, on 8 April 2002, the Second World Assembly on Ageing decided to allocate agenda item 9 (political Declaration and International Plan of Action on Ageing, 2002) to the Main Committee, which was to submit its recommendations to the Assembly.
1 - في الجلسة العامة الأولى، المعقودة في 8 نيسان/أبريل 2002، قررت الجمعية العالمية الثانية للشيخوخة أن تحيل البند 9 من جدول الأعمال (الإعلان السياسي وخطة العمل الدولية للشيخوخة، 2002) إلى اللجنة الرئيسية، التي كان من المقرر أن تقدم توصياتها إلى الجمعية.

76. SADC supported the political Declaration and International Plan of Action on Ageing adopted at the Second World Assembly on Ageing and recalled that in the SADC countries, older persons carried the burden of caring for the sick and for their grandchildren orphaned by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
76 - واختتم حديثه قائلاً إن الجماعة الإنمائية للجنوب الأفريقي تدعم الإعلان السياسي وخطة العمل الدولية بشأن الشيخوخة المعتمدين في الجمعية العالمية الثانية للشيخوخة وأشارت إلى أن المسنين في بلدان الجماعة يحملون عبء رعاية المرضى ورعاية أحفادهم الذين أضحوا يتامى بسبب وباء فيروس نقص المناعة البشرية/متلازمة نقص المناعة المكتسب (الإيدز).
