In cases of allegations of torture, illtreatment or executions, investigations should be conducted in accordance with the Principles on the Effective Prevention and Investigation of Extralegal, Arbitrary and Summary Executions and the Principles on the Effective Investigation and Documentation of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.

Draws the attention of Governments to the Principles on the Effective Investigation and Documentation of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment annexed to the present resolution, and strongly encourages Governments to reflect upon the Principles as a useful tool in efforts to combat torture;

The Committee took note of General Assembly resolution 55/89, entitled " Torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment " , to which are annexed the Principles on the Effective Investigation and Documentation of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
