Through this appeal, I am seeking financial contributions from Member States in the amount of $11.2 million to meet priority humanitarian needs in Sierra Leone over the next three months.

Donors should also recognize that voluntary contributions that have been earmarked for use in specific programmes inadvertently handicap the efforts of the United Nations Mine Action Service to deal with unexpected emergency situations and underfunded priority humanitarian programmes.

6. Welcomes the intention of the Secretary-General to submit a supplementary report, and expresses its willingness, in the light of his recommendations, to find ways of improving the implementation of the humanitarian programme and to take such action over additional resources as needed to meet priority humanitarian requirements of the Iraqi people, as well as to consider an extension of the time-frame for the implementation of this resolution;

39. A United Nations consolidated inter-agency appeal for Liberia was launched in December 1996 requesting $31.2 million for priority humanitarian interventions.
٣٩ - وفي كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٦، وجهت اﻷمم المتحدة نداء موحدا مشتركا بين الوكالات من أجل ليبريا طلبت فيه مبلغ ٣١,٢ مليون دولار ﻷغراض التدخلات اﻹنسانية العاجلة.

Given the scale of urgent humanitarian requirements in Iraq, the Security Council may wish to re-examine the adequacy of the revenues as envisaged by resolutions 986 (1995) and 1111 (1997) and to consider the possibility of increasing those revenues to meet Iraq's priority humanitarian requirements.
وفـي ضــوء حجــم الاحتياجات اﻹنسانية العاجلــة في العـراق، قـد يرغـب مجلس اﻷمن في أن يفحـص من جديد مـدى كفاية اﻹيرادات على النحو الذي توخاه القراران ٦٨٩ )٥٩٩١( و ١١١١ )٧٩٩١( وأن ينظــر في إمكانية زيـادة هذه اﻹيرادات من أجل تلبية الاحتياجات اﻹنسانية ذات اﻷولوية للعراق.

Noting with appreciation the recommendation of the Secretary-General that the Council re-examine the adequacy of the revenues provided by resolution 986 (1995) and consider how best to meet the priority humanitarian requirements of the Iraqi people, including the possibility of increasing those revenues,

Accordingly, given the scale of urgent humanitarian requirements, I recommended that the Council might wish to re-examine the adequacy of the revenues as envisaged by resolutions 986 (1995) and 1111 (1997) and to consider the possibility of increasing the revenues authorized under the programme to meet Iraq's priority humanitarian requirements.
