Mr. Pérez-Otermin (Uruguay), speaking on behalf of the States members of the Common Market of the Southern Cone (MERCOSUR), namely, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and his own country, as well as the associated countries of Bolivia and Chile, said that Governments must attach priority to the eradication of poverty in their policies and programmes on an ongoing basis.
١٧ - السيد بيريز - أوترمين )أوروغواي(: قال، متحدثا بالنيابة عن الدول اﻷعضاء في السوق المشتركة للمخروط الجنوبي، وبالتحديد اﻷرجنتين وباراغواي والبرازيل وبلده، فضلا عن البلدين المنتسبين وهما بوليفيا وشيلي، إنه لا بد أن تولي الحكومات في سياساتها وبرامجها أولوية للقضاء على الفقر على أساس متواصل.

51. Recommendation 2: The General Assembly in resolution 50/107 recommended that donor countries give greater priority to the eradication of poverty in their assistance programmes and budgets.
