The Committee began consideration of the item and heard introductory statements by the Chief of External Relations and Liaison Branch of UNFPA and the Director of the Division for Public Economics and Public Administration of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).

The Secretary-General supports this recommendation of the Meeting of Experts, and subject to the approval of the Council and the General Assembly, will include such a review as part of the proposed activities to be carried out by the Division for Public Economics and Public Administration of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs in the biennium 2000–2001.
