7. Having examined the information contained in the Secretary-General's Memorandum as well as the documentation received from States parties to the Convention, the Committee noted that as of 7 December 2006:

Under article 9 of the Convention, the Committee reports annually, through the Secretary-General, to the General Assembly on its activities and may make suggestions and recommendations based on the examination of reports and information received from States parties to the Convention.

6. At its second meeting held on 28 November 2003, the Committee examined the information contained in the Secretary-General's Memorandum as well as the documentation received from States parties to the Convention. The Committee noted that as of 28 November 2003:
