In his progress report on the implementation of recommendations related to strengthening information and systems security across the Secretariat (A/68/552), the Secretary-General provided information on the initial steps in the implementation of the action plan to strengthen information security and on the actions taken in the area of governance, risk and compliance.

At its last meeting, in October 2009, the Group made a number of recommendations related to strengthening the role of the national statistics office in the national statistical system and improving the tools of communication between the national statistics office and line ministers, through the creation of central Millennium Development Goals databases and the use of standards for data exchange, such as SDMX.
