In 1993, the report of the Secretary-General on this question (E/1993/86) contained a summary of the activities of the organizations and agencies of the United Nations system and also described activities that addressed the need for a continuous flow of information to Member States, those that addressed the need for training and user-friendly access to databases, and, finally, the need for policy coordination.
