The SBSTA agreed that the first workshop will be held in the second half of 2013 to discuss the overall approach to the review process related to biennial reports, national communications and GHG inventories, as well as the revision of the review guidelines for biennial reports and national communications.

50. The SBSTA noted that while the revision of review guidelines for national communications and biennial reports will be completed at COP 19, the revision of review guidelines for GHG inventories can only be completed at COP 20.

54. In accordance with the work programme for the revision of the review guidelines, SBSTA 38 is expected to continue its consideration of the overall approach to streamlining the review process and the structure, outline, key elements and content of review guidelines for national communications and biennial reports.

(a) Completing the revision of the review guidelines for national communications and biennial reports by COP 19;
(أ) إكمال تنقيح المبادئ التوجيهية لاستعراض البلاغات الوطنية وتقارير فترة السنتين بحلول الدورة التاسعة عشرة لمؤتمر الأطراف؛

(a) Alternative 1: the revision of the review guidelines for national communications, biennial reports and GHG inventories envisages that the structure and key elements of the review guidelines would comprise the following:

55. SBSTA 38 continued its discussion on the revision of the review guidelines, with a view to completing the revision of the review guidelines for national communications and biennial reports by COP 19.

46. SBSTA 39 invited Parties to submit their views on the structure, outline, key elements, including the purpose and scope of the review, timing and reporting, and content of the review guidelines for greenhouse gas inventories.
