Having considered the updated report of the Secretary-General on the review of the methodology for rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries and the related report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions,

1. Takes note of the updated report of the Secretary-General on the review of the methodology for rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries;1

6. The General Assembly, in its resolution 62/252, requested the Secretary-General to submit an update of his report on the review of the methodology for rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries, including the arrangements for recreational leave allowance, for its consideration at the second part of its resumed sixty-third session.

In that regard, CELAC noted the review of the methodology for rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries, endorsed by the General Assembly in resolution 63/285 and currently being implemented, and also noted the importance of the work of the Working Group on Contingent-Owned Equipment, although its recommendations still fell short of expectations.

The report of the Secretary-General entitled " review of the methodology for rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries " (A/60/725 and Add.1) addressed the methodology, based on surveys of troop/police-contributing countries and a review of the daily allowance for soldiers.

The Secretary-General's report (A/63/697) is submitted in response to a request of the General Assembly in its resolution 62/252 for an update of the Secretary-General's earlier report on the review of the methodology for rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries and for the daily allowance for troops (A/60/725 and Add.1).

196. The actions to be taken by the General Assembly are set out in paragraphs 12 (a) to (e) of the Secretary-General's updated report on the review of the methodology for rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries (A/63/697).
