As the President of the Republic of Italy, Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, said in his address to the General Assembly on 3 April 1996:

44. During the Conference, the Committee delegation was received by H.E. Dr. Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, President of the Italian Republic, who expressed the readiness of his country to continue to make every effort aimed at bringing the peace process back on track.
٤٤ - وأثناء المؤتمر، استقبل فخامة الدكتور أوسكار لويجي سكالفارو رئيس الجمهورية اﻹيطالية وفد اللجنة وأعرب عن استعداد بلاده لمواصلة بذل كل جهد ممكن ﻹعادة عملية السلام إلى مسارها.

Mr. Scalfaro (President of the Republic of Italy) said that his country was honoured to host the Conference.
١٣ - السيد سكالفارو )رئيس جمهورية ايطاليا( : قال إن بلده يشرفها أن تستضيف المؤتمر .

I declare the elected President of the Republic to be the Honourable Oscar Luigi Scalfaro.
أعلن عن الرئيس المنتخب للجمهورية ليكون العضو المحترم (أوسكار لويجي سكالفارو)

President Scalfaro (spoke in Italian; English text furnished by the delegation): I know well that this Assembly, which gives voice to the whole world, has met on this occasion to give the President of the Republic of Italy the very great and deeply felt honour of addressing it.
