9. The conference will be organized by the lead institution/consortium selected by the COP under the guidance of the Bureau of the CST and with the support of the UNCCD secretariat.

25. In terms of reshaping the operation of the CST, by decision 13/COP.8, Parties decided that each future ordinary session of the CST should be organized in a predominantly scientific and technical conference-style format by the CST bureau, in consultation with a lead institution/consortium, which is qualified in and has expertise in the relevant thematic topic selected by the COP.
25- وفيما يتعلق بإعادة صياغة عمل لجنة العلم والتكنولوجيا، قررت الأطراف بموجب المقرر 13/م أ-8 أن يقوم مكتب لجنة العلم والتكنولوجيا بتنظيم كل دورة عادية ستعقدها اللجنة في المستقبل في شكل يغلب عليه طابع المؤتمر العلمي والتقني، وذلك بالتشاور مع مؤسسة رائدة مؤهلة وصاحبة خبرة فنية/اتحاد رائد مؤهل وصاحب خبرة فنية في الموضوع ذي الصلة الذي يختاره مؤتمر الأطراف.

(b) By its decision 18/COP.10, paragraph 14, requested the Bureau of the CST, with the support of the secretariat, to establish terms of reference and procedures for selection, taking into account regional balance, of a lead institution/consortium which is qualified in and has expertise in the relevant thematic topic selected by the COP to organize the UNCCD 3rd Scientific Conference under the guidance of the Bureau of the CST;
(ب) طلب، بموجب الفقرة 14 من مقرره 18/م أ-10، من مكتب لجنة العلم والتكنولوجيا أن يضع، بدعم من الأمانة، اختصاصات وإجراءات اختيار المؤسسة الرائدة (الاتحاد الرائد) المؤهلة وصاحبة الخبرة الفنية في الموضوع ذي الصلة الذي يختاره مؤتمر الأطراف - مع مراعاة التوازن الإقليمي - من أجل تنظيم المؤتمر العلمي الثالث للاتفاقية تحت توجيه مكتب لجنة العلم والتكنولوجيا؛
