At the Workshop, it was clearly demonstrated that developing countries could benefit greatly from promoting space activities through the development of small satellite programmes.

At the Symposium, participants focused on the theme " Payloads for small satellite programmes " .
29- وخلال الندوة، ركّز المشاركون على موضوع " حمولات برامج السواتل الصغيرة " .

13 technical presentations, most of which focused on the contribution that small satellites could make to scientific, Earth observation and telecommunication missions; emphasis was placed on the importance of international cooperation, education, training and the benefits of small satellite programmes to developing countries.
وقُدّم في حلقة العمل 13 عرضا تقنيا، ركّز مُعظمها على المساهمات التي يمكن للسواتل الصغيرة أن توفّرها من أجل دعم البعثات العلمية وبعثات رصد الأرض وبعثات الاتصالات؛ وجرى التشديد على أهمية التعاون الدولي والتعليم والتدريب ومنافع برامج السواتل الصغيرة للبلدان النامية.

The United Nations/Austria/European Space Agency Symposium on small satellite programmes for Sustainable Development was held in Graz, Austria, from 8 to 11 September 2009.

Participants recommended that the Office for Outer Space Affairs use the proposals as input for the next in the series of symposiums, on small satellite programmes for sustainable development.

Besides the general managerial and programmatic aspects of small satellite programmes, the Symposium addressed in particular issues relevant to the long-term sustainability of outer space activities, such as issues of space debris mitigation measures for small satellite programmes.
