(a) All States and other parties to armed conflict to respect fully international humanitarian law and, in this regard, calls upon States parties to respect fully the provisions of the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, and the Additional Protocols thereto of 8 June 1977;

17. In paragraphs 12 and 14 of resolution 1998/76, the Commission on Human Rights, inter alia, called upon all States and other parties to armed conflict to end the use of children as soldiers and to ensure their demobilization, and decided to encourage the Chairman of the working group to conduct broad informal consultations with the aim of promoting an early agreement on the optional protocol and to produce a report thereon.

44. Calls upon States and other parties to armed conflict to recognize the particular vulnerability of refugee and internally displaced children to recruitment into armed forces and to sexual violence, exploitation and abuse, and to enhance protection and assistance mechanisms;
