Work on supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals contributed to promoting the use of statistical data for policy analysis and advocacy to promote development.

In accordance with General Conference resolution GC.13/Res.6, the present document sets out the report by the Director-General on the crucial role of the productive sectors in supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and how UNIDO is contributing further to this process.
1- وفقاً لقرار المؤتمر العام م ع-13/ق-6، تعرض هذه الوثيقة تقرير المدير العام الذي يتناول فيه الدور الحاسم الذي تقوم به القطاعات الإنتاجية في دعم تحقيق الأهداف الإنمائية للألفية والكيفية التي تقدِّم بها اليونيدو مساهمات أخرى في هذه العملية.

In addition, and based on a first report prepared by ECE as well as inter-agency consultations on the Millennium Development Goals, the Regional Coordination Mechanism for the ECE region decided to prepare a regional inter-agency report involving all the agencies engaged in supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in the ECE region.

The Chair invited the Committee to resume consideration of the draft resolution entitled " The crucial role of the productive sectors in supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals " , which had been introduced at the Committee's 2nd meeting and for which he had proposed new wording at the last meeting.

122. In accordance with their respective roles and responsibilities, cooperation between ESCAP and UNDP has focused on the implementation of a three-year joint project on supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

In its fourth meeting, on the afternoon of 9 December, consensus was reached on draft resolutions under item 12 (the crucial role of the productive sectors in supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals) and on item 15 (Cooperation agreement with the United Nations Development Programme).
