After thanking all the delegations, the secretariat and the conference services for their contributions, the PRESIDENT declared the Tenth Annual Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II closed.

4. The Conference welcomes the decision by the Tenth Annual Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II in 2008, in the framework of revitalizing the work under Amended Protocol II and to further enhance its implementation, to establish an informal open-ended Group of Experts.

The Tenth Annual Conference of the States Parties to Amended Protocol II to the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed To Be Excessively Injurious or To Have Indiscriminate Effects, held in Geneva on 12 November 2008, decided to convene a two-day meeting of the Group of Experts of the States Parties in 2009.
1- قرر المؤتمر السنوي العاشر للأطراف في البروتوكول الثاني المعدَّل الملحق باتفاقية حظر أو تقييد استعمال أسلحة تقليدية معينة يمكن اعتبارها مفرطة الضرر أو عشوائية الأثر، الذي عُقد في جنيف في 12 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2008، أن يعقد اجتماعاً لمدة يومين لفريق الخبراء التابع للدول الأطراف في عام 2009.

43. China supported the proposal jointly put forward by the President of the Tenth Annual Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II and the President of the Second Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Protocol V aimed at establishing an implementation support unit for the Convention, and hoped that such a mechanism would be put into operation as soon as possible.
43- كما أن الصين تؤيد المقترح المشترك لرئيس المؤتمر السنوي العاشر للأطراف المتعاقدة السامية في البروتوكول الثاني المعدل ورئيس المؤتمر الثاني للأطراف المتعاقدة السامية في البروتوكول الخامس، الذي يستهدف إلى إنشاء وحدة دعم لتطبيق الاتفاقية وتأمل في أن تبدأ هذه الآلية العمل بأسرع ما يمكن.

First, pursuant to the decision of the Tenth Annual Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II and the plan of action to promote the universality of the Convention, letters had been addressed to States not parties to the Convention inviting them to consider acceding to the instrument and its Protocols.

In order to achieve that objective, he, together with the Presidents of the Tenth Annual Conference of the Parties to Amended Protocol II and the Third Conference of the Parties to Protocol V, had reached out to all States, including those not party to the Convention or the Protocols, requesting them to join the efforts to universalize those instruments.

The Tenth Annual Conference of the States Parties to Amended Protocol II to the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed To Be Excessively Injurious or To Have Indiscriminate Effects, held in Geneva on 12 November 2008, decided to convene a one-day meeting of the Eleventh Annual Conference of the States Parties in November 2009.
1- قرر المؤتمر السنوي العاشر للأطراف في البروتوكول الثاني المعدَّل الملحق باتفاقية حظر أو تقييد استعمال أسلحة تقليدية معينة يمكن اعتبارها مفرطة الضرر أو عشوائية الأثر، الذي عُقد في جنيف في 12 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2008، أن يعقد اجتماعاً لمدة يوم واحد للمؤتمر السنوي الحادي عشر للأطراف في تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر عام 2009.

10. Notes the decision of the Tenth Annual Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II to establish an informal open-ended Group of Experts, and welcomes the holding of the first session of the Group of Experts of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II, on 20 and 21 April 2009 in Geneva, to exchange national practices and experiences and to assess the implementation of the Protocol;

IV. Estimated costs of the Tenth Annual Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II to the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects

The request that the Secretary-General render the necessary assistance and provide services for the Tenth Annual Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II, the Second Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Protocol V and the Meeting of the High Contracting Parties to the Convention should thus have no financial implications for the regular budget of the United Nations.
وينبغي إذن ألا تترتب أي آثار مالية على الميزانية العادية للأمم المتحدة على الطلب الداعي إلى أن يقدم الأمين العام المساعدة الضرورية وأن يوفر خدمات للمؤتمر السنوي العاشر للأطراف المتعاقدة السامية في البروتوكول الثاني المعدل وللمؤتمر الثاني للأطراف المتعاقدة السامية في البروتوكول الخامس ولاجتماع الأطراف المتعاقدة السامية في الاتفاقية.

The PRESIDENT drew attention to the draft final document of the Tenth Annual Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II (CCW/AP.II/CONF.10/CRP.1) and to the non-paper containing amendments thereto, and invited the Conference to consider the draft final document paragraph by paragraph prior to adopting the text as a whole.
3- الرئيس لفت الانتباه إلى مشروع الوثيقة الختامية للمؤتمر السنوي العاشر للدول الأطراف المتعاقدة السامية في البروتوكول الثاني (CCW/AP.II/CONF.10/CRP.1) وإلى الورقة غير الرسمية التي تتضمن تعديلات عليها، ودعا المؤتمر إلى النظر في مشروع الوثيقة الختامية كل فقرة على حدة قبل اعتماد النص برمته.
