In this context, the resolution confirmed that the Business Plan on the Future Role and Functions of UNIDO continued to provide the basis for the programmatic activities of UNIDO and took note with interest of the corporate strategy introduced by the Director-General to the Industrial Development Board at its twenty-seventh session.

Mr. EL-ATAWI (Egypt), thanking the delegation of Japan for its efforts in preparing document IDB.26/15, supported the view expressed by the representative of Germany that the Business Plan should remain the basis for the future direction of the Organization.

Notes that the Business Plan enables UNCDF to fulfil its mandate, as set out by the United Nations General Assembly, to provide capital assistance, first and foremost to the least developed countries, and maintains UNCDF as an independent organization focused on reducing poverty and achieving the Brussels Programme for Action and the Millennium Development Goals in the least developed countries;

It is evident that the Business Plan has fulfilled its primary function of refocusing the Organization in response to the financial crisis, and it should now be reconsidered in the context of the move to a comprehensive results-based management system as called for by the Member States (paras. 34-46).
ومن الواضح أن خطة الأعمال أدت وظيفتها الأساسية في إعادة تحديد مجالات تركيز المنظمة استجابة للأزمة المالية، وينبغي الآن أن يعاد النظر فيها في سياق التوجه نحو نظام ادارة شامل يقوم على النتائج حسب ما دعت إليه الدول الأعضاء (الفقرات 34-46).

Mr. RUDISCHHAUSER (Germany), expressing support for the draft decision and welcoming the initiative of the delegation of Japan which had led to the formulation of the strategic guidelines contained in document IDB.26/15, emphasized that the Business Plan remained the basis for the organizational and programmatic transformation of UNIDO.
