In response to the remarks made by the representative of the Syrian Arab Republic concerning the tendency to ignore the plight of children in the occupied territories, he recalled that the Secretary-General and representatives of UNICEF had recently spoken on that subject and assured the Committee that the situation of children in Palestine was constantly under review.

Ms. Coomaraswamy (Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict) responded that the situation of children in the occupied Palestinian territories was addressed in a separate report, which had been published and was available on her Office's website, and pointed out that the number of children wounded or killed had decreased significantly since the ceasefire.
