Upon enquiry, the Committee was informed that UNAMI uses aircraft of the Multinational Forces in Iraq for passenger movements to and from Amman and Kuwait in cases when UNAMI aircraft is incapacitated or in emergencies, as well as for transportation of Guard Units from Kuwait to Iraq. Most importantly, UNAMI relies solely on rotary-wing air support from the Multinational Forces in Iraq for travel to locations without airstrips within Iraq.

The representative of the United States described the decline in the number of security incidents as a result of a change in the force's strategy and an expansion of the role of the Iraqi security forces, and stated that UNAMI had contributed substantially to helping to develop Iraq.
