At the forty-third meeting of the IOC Executive Council in 2010, the Advisory Body of Experts was requested to continue work on the questionnaire No. 3 on " The practices of Member States in the field of marine scientific research and transfer of marine technology " within the framework of the Convention.

To respond to the requirements deriving from the Convention relevant to research, transfer of marine technology and capacity-building, the IOC Assembly established the Advisory Body of Experts on the Law of the Sea in 1999 to provide advice upon request to the governing bodies of IOC and to the Executive Secretary on the implementation of IOC responsibilities under the Convention.

Guidelines for the implementation of resolution XX-6 of the IOC Assembly regarding the deployment of profiling floats in the high seas within the framework of the Argo Programme were adopted by the IOC Executive Council at its forty-first session (resolution EC-XLI.4, annex), following the review of the draft guidelines by the Advisory Body of Experts on the Law of the Sea.
كما أن المبادئ التوجيهية لتنفيذ القرار 6/د-20 الصادر عن جمعية اللجنة الأوقيانوغرافية الحكومية الدولية بشأن نشر العوامات الجامعة للبيانات في أعالي البحار في إطار برنامج آرغو قد اعتمدها المجلس التنفيذي للجنة الأوقيانوغرافية الحكومية الدولية في دورته الحادية والأربعين (القرار EC-XLI.4، المرفق)، عقب استعراض هيئة الخبراء الاستشارية لقانون البحار لمشروع المبادئ التوجيهية().

Pursuant to IOC Assembly resolution XXIV-12, which authorized the Advisory Body of Experts on the Law of the Sea to contribute to the updating of the Division's 1991 publication, the IOC secretariat has indicated its willingness to collaborate with the Division, as required.
