The Chairman, together with members of the Bureau, conducted six sets of informal bilateral contacts with interested delegations from 27 February to 2 March 2006, and on 1 March, informal consultations were held, during which the Chairman briefed delegations on the progress of the bilateral contacts up to that point.

10. The purpose of the various informal consultations held in both New York and Geneva, as well as the bilateral contacts with Member States, had been to respond to States' concerns and expectations, find common ground, and promote a multilateral process.

47. The Coordinator had noted that, during the informal consultations on 6 November 2012, discussions during the bilateral contacts had revealed that positions among delegations were not yet gravitating towards a possible compromise, despite a lull of one year for reflection.

3. In her report, the Coordinator expressed her appreciation for the efforts made by delegations who made time during the bilateral contacts to consult with her and share their hopes and concerns, noting that the continuing efforts to find a solution to the outstanding issues were a shared quest.

In her statement on 18 October 2007, she had noted that the purpose of the informal bilateral contacts had been to clarify how the elements of the non-paper sought to be contextualized in the scheme under the draft convention, in the light of views expressed, during both the Committee's debate on measures to eliminate international terrorism and the bilateral contacts.
