The development objective of the technical assistance provided by the Division on Investment, Technology and Enterprise Development is to support the efforts of developing countries to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) and benefit from it, particularly with respect to strengthening technological capacities and enhancing the competitiveness of the enterprise sector.
39- يتمثل الهدف الإنمائي للمساعدة التقنية التي توفرها شعبة الاستثمار والتكنولوجيا وتنمية المشاريع في دعم جهود البلدان النامية من أجل جذب الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر والاستفادة منه، وبخاصة فيما يتعلق بتعزيز القدرات التكنولوجية وتحسين القدرة التنافسية لقطاع المشاريع.

The Expert Meeting on the Development Dimension of FDI: Policies to Enhance the Role of FDI in Support of the competitiveness of the enterprise sector and the Economic Performance of Host Economies, Taking into Account the Trade/Investment Interface, in the National and International Context was held at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, from 6 to 8 November 2002.
23- عقد اجتماع الخبراء المعني بالبعد الإنمائي للاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر: السياسات الرامية إلى تعزيز دور الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر في دعم القدرة التنافسية لقطاع المشاريع والأداء الاقتصادي للاقتصادات المضيفة مع مراعاة نقاط الالتقاء بين التجارة والاستثمار، في السياقين الوطني والدولي، بقصر الأمم في جنيف، من 6 إلى 8 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2002.

3. The Commission on Investment, Technology and Related Financial issues decided to convene an Intergovernmental Expert Meeting on the Development Dimension of FDI: Policies to Enhance the Role of FDI in Support of the competitiveness of the enterprise sector and the Economic Performance of Host Economies, taking into account the Trade/Investment Interface, in the National and International Context.
3- قررت لجنة الاستثمار والتكنولوجيا والقضايا المالية المتصلة بذلك أن تعقد اجتماعاً لفريق خبراء حكومي دولي يُعنى بالبعد الإنمائي للاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر: السياسات الرامية إلى تعزيز دور الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر في دعم القدرة التنافسية لقطاع المشاريع والأداء الاقتصادي للاقتصادات المضيفة مع مراعاة نقاط الالتقاء بين التجارة والاستثمار، في السياقين الوطني والدولي.

6 To facilitate the discussions, the UNCTAD secretariat is preparing an issues note on " The development dimension of FDI: policies to enhance the role of FDI in support of the competitiveness of the enterprise sector and the economic performance of host economies, taking into account the trade/investment interface, in the national and international context " .
