Concerning the procedural aspects of the consideration of requests for exemption under Article 19, his delegation shared the concerns expressed by the Committee on Contributions that it would not be appropriate for the Chairman of the Committee to seek the views of members by correspondence or for the Committee to meet using teleconferencing facilities.

46. The Committee recalled that, pursuant to General Assembly resolution 50/207 B, it had reviewed the procedural aspects of the consideration of requests for exemption under Article 19 of the Charter at its fifty-sixth and fifty-seventh sessions.

76. The Committee on Contributions had been unable to formulate concrete recommendations on the procedural aspects of the consideration of requests for exemption under Article 19 of the Charter.

8. The Committee also noted that any change in the periodicity or timing of the calculation and application of Article 19 could have implications for the procedural aspects of the consideration of requests for exemption under Article 19.

It also requested the Committee to review the procedural aspects of the consideration of requests for exemption under Article 19, in particular modalities for dealing with such requests received when the Committee was not in session, and to make recommendations to the Assembly in that respect before the end of its fifty-third session.
