1. The present report is being submitted in the context of actions taken by the Security Council regarding good offices, peacemaking and preventive diplomacy missions, on the basis of requests from Governments and/or recommendations of the Secretary-General.

It further emphasized that in the context of actions being undertaken, the international community and small island developing States should pursue, inter alia, improvement of the capacity of small island developing States to adequately respond and adapt to climate change, and improvement of capabilities for climate prediction (ibid.).
وأكدت كذلك في سياق اﻹجراءات المتبعة، أنه يتعين على المجتمع الدولي والدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية مواصلة العمل من أجل تحقيق جملة أمور منها تحسين قدرة الدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية على مواجهة تغير المناخ والتكيف مع هذه الظاهرة وتحسين إمكانيات التنبؤ بالمناخ )المرجع نفسه(.

The present report is submitted in the context of actions taken by the Security Council in 1999 regarding good offices, preventive diplomacy and post-conflict peace-building missions, on the basis of requests from Governments and/or recommendations of the Secretary-General.

In the context of actions being undertaken to address these issues and on the basis of a strong and committed partnership between small island developing States and the international community, the international community and small island developing States should pursue and support the following goals, objectives and activities, including through specific modalities, to assist in the continued implementation of the Programme of Action:
٤٣ - وفي سياق اﻹجراءات التي يجري الاضطلاع بها لمعالجة هذه المواضيع، على أساس الشراكة القوية القائمة على الالتزام بين الدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية والمجتمع الدولي، يتعين على المجتمع الدولي والدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية مواصلة ودعم اﻷهداف والمقاصد واﻷنشطة التالية، بما في ذلك من خلال طرائق محددة من أجل المساعدة على مواصلة تنفيذ برنامج العمل على النحو التالي:
