At the same meeting, in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations, the Council also decided to extend an invitation, under rule 39 of its provisional rules of procedure, to Mr. Mike Smith, Executive Director of the CounterTerrorism Committee Executive Directorate.

The work programme of the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate, which covers the period from 1 January to 30 June 2009, has been prepared in accordance with the relevant provisions of the report of the CounterTerrorism Committee on its revitalization (S/2004/124), and takes into account the work programme of the Committee for the same period.

Encourages the Monitoring Team and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue their joint activities, in cooperation with the CounterTerrorism Committee Executive Directorate and experts of the Committee established pursuant to resolution 1540 (2004), to assist Member States in their efforts to comply with their obligations under the relevant resolutions, including by organizing subregional workshops;

The dialogue which has been established between the CounterTerrorism Committee of the Security Council and OHCHR will be further built upon in the time ahead.

This group will be entrusted with supporting the CounterTerrorism Committee set up under the United Nations General Assembly and its membership will also be open to countries other than those of the G-8.
