1. In its resolutions 55/222 of 23 December 2000 and 56/242 of 24 December 2001, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to consider improving and modernizing the existing conference facilities at the United Nations Office at Nairobi in order to accommodate adequately major meetings and conferences.
1 - طلبت الجمعية العامة إلى الأمين العام، في قراريها 55/222 المؤرخ 23 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2000 و 56/242 المؤرخ 24 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2001، أن ينظر في تحسين وتحديث مرافق المؤتمرات الحالية بمكتب الأمم المتحدة في نيروبي بغية استيعاب الاجتماعات والمؤتمرات الرئيسية على نحو ملائم.

Also decides to approve the utilization of an amount of 913,000 dollars for the modernization of the existing conference facilities at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, to be financed within the available balance of the construction-in-progress account, subject to the decision mentioned in paragraph 2 above;
3- تقرر أيضا أن توافق على استخدام مبلغ 000 913 دولار لتحديث مرافق المؤتمرات الحالية في مكتب الأمم المتحدة في نيروبي يموّل من الرصيد المتوافر لحساب التشييد الجاري، رهنا بالقرار المشار إليه في الفقرة 2 أعلاه؛

2 - تقرر أن تخصص الموارد ذات الصلة في إطار الباب 33، التشييد والتعديل والتحسين وأعمال الصيانة الرئيسية، من الميزانية البرنامجية المقترحة لفترة السنتين 2004-2005() لتمويل تحديث مرافق المؤتمرات الحالية في مكتب الأمم المتحدة في نيروبي، وذلك بمبلغ قدره 000 132 1 دولار يحمّل على صندوق الطوارئ؛

(c) Decide to approve the utilization of an amount of $1,020,000 for the modernization of the existing conference facilities at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, to be financed within the available balance of the construction-in-progress account;
(ج) أن تقرر الموافقة على استخدام مبلغ 000 020 1 دولار من أجل تحديث المرافق الحالية للمؤتمرات في مكتب الأمم المتحدة في نيروبي، على أن يجري التمويل في حدود الرصيد المتاح في حساب الإنشاءات الجارية؛

18. It is proposed to delegate the administrative responsibility for the implementation of the modernization of the existing conference facilities, to the Division of Administrative Services of the United Nations Office at Nairobi, which would exercise those responsibilities in close collaboration with the Division of Conference Services.
18 - ويُقترح تفويض السلطة الإدارية على تنفيذ تحديث المرافق الحالية للمؤتمرات إلى شعبة الخدمات الإدارية في مكتب الأمم المتحدة في نيروبي، التي ينبغي أن تمارس مسؤولياتها بتعاون وثيق مع شعبة خدمات المؤتمرات.

22. The General Assembly is requested to authorize the modernization of the existing conference facilities at the United Nations Office at Nairobi for a total estimated cost of $3,479,000 (at current prices), to be funded from:

7. The Advisory Committee recommends that the General Assembly authorize the modernization of the existing conference facilities at the United Nations Office at Nairobi as described in paragraph 10 of the report of the Secretary-General.
7 - توصي اللجنة الاستشارية بأن تأذن الجمعية العامة بتحديث مرافق المؤتمرات القائمة في مكتب الأمم المتحدة في نيروبي على النحو المعروض في الفقرة 10 من تقرير الأمين العام.

7. The Advisory Committee recommends that the General Assembly authorize the modernization of the existing conference facilities at the United Nations Office at Nairobi as described in paragraph 10 of the report of the Secretary-General.

5. By its resolution 58/272, the General Assembly authorized the modernization of the existing conference facilities at the United Nations Office at Nairobi and requested the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly on the experience gained from operating the modernized conference facilities of the United Nations Office at Nairobi during the biennium 2006-2007.
5 - أذنت الجمعية العامة في قرارها 58/272 تحديث مرافق المؤتمرات القائمة في مكتب الأمم المتحدة في نيروبي وطلبت إلى الأمين العام أن يقدم للجمعية العامة تقريراً عن الخبرة المستفادة من تشغيل مرافق المؤتمرات المستحدثة لمكتب الأمم المتحدة في نيروبي خلال فترة السنتين 2006-2007.

The best alternative, as indicated, would be to go ahead with a reduced-scope project now, as the existing conference facilities were in such poor condition that it was necessary to take immediate action.
