1. This is the fifth report of the Secretary-General to the General Assembly on the activities of the United Nations Ombudsman.

3. In accordance with paragraph 5 of General Assembly resolution 48/141 the High Commissioner submits on a regular basis reports to the Commission on Human Rights, the Economic and Social Council and the General Assembly on the activities carried out within the mandate of the High Commissioner.
