IFF noted the outcome of the in-depth study on the theme “International forest conservation: protected areas and beyond” sponsored by the Government of Australia, and the recommendations of the international expert meeting on protected forest areas co-sponsored by the Governments of the United States and Brazil.

Consideration of the theme would allow the Commission to contribute to the follow-up of the twenty-seventh special session of the General Assembly on children in 2007 and to follow up on the in-depth study on violence against children to be submitted to the General Assembly at its sixty-first session.

In their determination to eliminate violence, Botswana had taken legislative and educational measures and eagerly awaited the outcome of the in-depth study on all forms of violence against women requested by the General Assembly in resolution 58/185.
