Ms. REBONG (Philippines), introducing draft resolution A/C.2/50/L.46 on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, pointed out that a new paragraph had been inserted, requesting the Secretary-General to submit a report on the matter to the General Assembly through the Economic and Social Council.

10. Takes note of the decision of the Board not to propose changes at the present time in the size and composition of the Board and of its Standing Committee, but to keep the subject under review and to submit a further report on the matter to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session, in 1998;

4. Notes that the rate of compliance with the page limits remains only partial and that reports not originating in the Secretariat comprise the bulk of the documents issued, and requests the Secretary-General to encourage compliance with drafting guidelines as set out in paragraph 15 of its resolution 53/208 B, to the extent possible, for such documents and to report on the matter to the General Assembly through the Committee on Conferences;
