The coordination meeting reviewed the current international situation, dealing in particular with issues concerning the Middle East and the question of Palestine; the situation in Somalia; the situation in Afghanistan; the consequences of Iraqi aggression against Kuwait and non-compliance by Iraq with the Security Council's resolutions; the Jammu and Kashmir dispute; and the situation in South Africa.

My delegation strongly believes that the situation in the Middle East and the question of Palestine remain an important cornerstone of the work of the United Nations.
