192. The Committee further recommended approval of the new narrative of section 7A, Economic and social affairs, subject to the following modifications:

204. It was noted that there was a good balance in the new narrative between traditional and electronic media.

185. A view was expressed that the new narrative was based on the approved medium-term plan and not on programme 28 of the revised medium-term plan for the period 1998–2001, which was still under consideration.

194. The representative of the Secretary-General introduced the new narrative in respect of section 26, Public information, and responded to queries raised during the Committee’s consideration of the section.

205. As regards direct shortwave broadcasting, the view was expressed that, since there was no decision on the matter yet, its mention in the new narrative was inappropriate.

In the same resolution, the Assembly requested the Committee, at its thirty-eighth session, to review the new narrative and to submit its conclusions and recommendations thereon to the Assembly for its consideration during the first part of its fifty-third regular session and no later than 1 October 1998.
وفي ذات القرار طلبت الجمعية العامة إلى لجنة البرنامج والتنسيق أن تستعرض السرد الجديد في دورتها الثامنة والثلاثين وأن تقدم استنتاجاتها وتوصياتها بشأنه إلى الجمعية العامة كي تنظر فيه خلال الجزء اﻷول من دورتها العادية الثالثة والخمسين وفي موعد لا يتجاوز تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٨.

It had considered the report of the Secretary-General on the new narrative (E/AC.51/1998/6) and had welcomed the use of defined targets for the implementation of mandates, programmes and activities.

40. 193. At its 22nd meeting, on 18 June 1998, the Committee considered the report of the Secretary-General on the new narrative for section 26, Public information (E/AC.51/1998/6 (sect. 26)).

193. At its 22nd meeting, on 18 June 1998, the Committee for Programme and Coordination considered the report of the Secretary-General on the new narrative for section 26, Public information (E/AC.51/1998/6 (sect. 26)).
٩٣١ - نظرت لجنة البرنامج والتنسيق في جلستها ٢٢ المعقودة في ١٨ حزيران/يونيه ١٩٩٨، في تقرير اﻷمين العام عن السرد الجديد للباب ٢٦، اﻹعلام (E/AC.51/1998/6 (Sec. 26).

Specifically, the revisions to the approved biennial plan for the period 2010-2011 resulting from the elimination of the 2011 part of subprogramme 2 from section 9, as well as from the new narrative under section 37, would be submitted to CPC ex post facto at its July 2011 session.

Therefore, it should evaluate the new narrative according to the criteria used by that Committee: namely, adherence to the PPBME Rules; consistency with the medium-term plan and with other relevant decisions of the legislative organs; and conciseness, clarity and precision in the wording of the narrative.

With respect to the new narrative for sections 7A and 26 contained in paragraphs 179 and 180, it had recommended that the Secretary-General should improve the preparation of future programme budgets by better formulation of objectives and indicators of achievement.
