وساعد قيام الأمين العام بتعيين المديرة التنفيذية لبرنامج الأغذية العالمي مبعوثته الخاصة المعنية بالجفاف في منطقة القرن الأفريقي الكبرى وإنشاء مكتب للمنسق الإقليمي للشؤون الإنسانية في أديس أبابا على تحسين قدرة الاستجابة الغوثية والتنسيق في المنطقة.

The Council commends efforts made by the Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Sahel, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs of the Secretariat and other agencies to provide assistance and draw attention to the scale of the problems in the Sahel as well as the support provided by countries in the region and beyond.
ويشيد المجلس بالجهود التي يبذلها المنسق الإقليمي للشؤون الإنسانية لمنطقة الساحل، ومكتب تنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية في الأمانة العامة، والوكالات الأخرى، بهدف تقديم المساعدة وتوجيه الانتباه إلى حجم المشاكل القائمة في منطقة الساحل وكذلك بالدعم الذي تقدمه دول من المنطقة ومن خارجها.

As part of United Nations efforts to implement the recommendations of the inter-agency assessment mission that I had dispatched to the Sahel in December 2011, my Special Representative continued to engage with the Regional Humanitarian Coordinator and the Chair of the regional branch of the United Nations Development Group to develop an integrated approach to the challenges affecting the Sahel.
63 - وفي إطار جهود الأمم المتحدة لتنفيذ توصيات بعثة التقييم المشتركة بين الوكالات التي كنت قد أوفدتُـها إلى منطقة الساحل في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2011، واصل ممثلي الخاص العمل مع منسق الشؤون الإنسانية الإقليمي ورئيس الفرع الإقليمي لمجموعة الأمم المتحدة الإنمائية لوضع نهج متكامل لمعالجة التحديات التي تؤثر على منطقة الساحل.
