Sir, I have the honour to transmit to you herewith the report of the International Meeting on the Protection of the Rights of Children in the Context of International Migration, which was held in Mexico City on 30 September and 1 October 2008, with the participation of government representatives from 20 countries and representatives of international and civil society organizations.

11. On 30 September and 1 October 2008, the Special Rapporteur attended the International Conference on the Protection of the Rights of Children in the Context of International Migration, in Mexico City, organized by OHCHR and the Government of Mexico.

The Committee on the Rights of the Child, at its day of general discussion on the Rights of Children in the Context of international migration, held on 28 September 2012, recommended that States should make clear that the child's best interests take priority in their legislation, policy and practice, including on migration.,

79. Governments, international organizations, national human rights institutions, NGOs and other stakeholders have put in place a variety of initiatives at various levels to protect the Rights of Children in the Context of migration.
